Laura & Jon’s Elegant Downtown Tampa Wedding | The Floridan Palace

Elegant Downtown Tampa The Floridan Palace Wedding | Northside Florist Wedding

As a preferred wedding florist for downtown Tampa venue The Floridan Palace, Northside Florist designed flowers for Laura and Jon’s elegant ivory, gold and blush wedding.

The bride and groom’s wedding ceremony took place at the iconic Sacred Heart Catholic Church and featured large ivory floral arrangements on each side of the altar, while Laura carried blush pink rose and white hydrangea bouquet down the aisle.

Located just blocks from the historic ceremony venue, The Floridan Palace’s elegant reception room set the tone for the couple’s romantic Downtown Tampa wedding.

Laura was focused on a specific gold candelabra centerpiece that would complement the tall ceilings of the Floridan ballroom, and we were one of the only downtown Tampa wedding florists who had them in stock.

“I interviewed numerous florists who had never worked with those candelabras before or would have to order them but Northside Florist had done them for numerous receptions at the Floridan,” the explained. “Meeting with Kathy Gilbert, the owner of Northside Florist, was like meeting my flower fairy godmother! The centerpieces, bouquets, and other flowers that she made were absolutely perfect and lasted quite a while even after the wedding weekend.”

The Proposal:
Our proposal took place at Bern’s Steakhouse. It was actually the week that we were moving into our new home. Jon called me and said that since it was the night before the moving trucks came, we should go out and celebrate our new home purchase.

So after a delicious and lengthy dinner, we went to Bern’s Dessert Room and as we settled in to wait for our bananas foster, a server brought a crystal dish with a cover on it. They set it in front of me, but I just kept talking and laughing. I do remember telling him, “We didn’t order this.” It wasn’t until Jon got very quiet, took off the lid and got down on one knee that I even realized what was happening. By then, a group of servers with cameras had gathered around us to take pictures and video. He had always said that he wanted us to be engaged before we moved in together, and he definitely made that happen!

What did you look for in a wedding florist?
I don’t know a lot about flowers, but I had a very specific idea about the color palette and size, so it was important to me that we hire a florist with extensive knowledge who was willing to take my ideas and run with them.

Kathy Gilbert, the owner of Northside Florist, had a great sense of what I wanted from just one meeting. She even found a way for me to attach a small frame of my deceased maternal Abuelo (grandfather) to my bouquet so that I could “carry” him down the aisle with me. I remember looking down at his picture a couple of minutes before I started walking down the aisle and it is a memory that I will treasure forever. She made that possible and I will never forget that!

Rustic, Twilight Inspired Outdoor Land O Lakes Wedding In The Woods

Rustic, Tampa Bay Wedding | Land O Lakes Wedding Florist

Janet and Mason’s rustic, outdoor Land O Lakes wedding featured a rose and greenery draped ceremony arch and rose petal covered aisle inspired by the movie Twilight.

“The ceremony was always my main focus. It is the part that really mattered to me, because that is where I became a wife and my husband said his beautiful vows,” Janet shared.

MORE: RUSTIC WEDDINGS

With a specific wedding theme in mind, the bride looked for a Land O Lakes wedding florist who could stay within budget, yet create an unique look.

“I had some interesting and specific ideas, plus a budget, and I was looking for  who would understand me and be willing to try new things,” Janet explained. “The moment we walked into Northside Florist, I was in love! Kathy has such a beautiful shop and was genuinely excited about my vision. The aisle was covered in petals, the centerpieces and the feasting table were awe-inspiring and my bouquet was breathtaking!”

The pink and gold outdoor wedding reception included sequined specialty linens, lush greenery filled centerpieces and lots of candlelight.

“Our theme was rustic glam and our colors were gold, pale pink and neutrals. I choose them because the color swatches my wedding planner showed me looked soft and pretty together,” Janet shared.

The moment we walked into Northside Florist, I was in love! Kathy was even willing to make a brooch bouquet (which she had never done before) and was able to make a pretty garland with flowers spilling over the head table. We also had the most perfect romantic arch with flowers and crystal accents. Northside Florist has everything you need and the best out there, in my opinion.

The Proposal:
After watching the sunset near the pier in Safety Harbor, Mason and I were walking back to our car when we passed the beautiful downtown gazebo. Mason asked me to dance with him in the middle of the gazebo and that is when the song God Gave Me You started to play and our friends and family walked out from hiding. They were carrying sparklers and circled around us. Mason got down on one knee and pulled a ring from his sock (don’t worry, it was in a small bag). I was so surprised, and of course, said “YES!”

The Proposal:
We drove down to Florida for a vacation to visit family and friends. Immediately after checking in, we ran down to the beach to watch sunset and enjoyed the powder white sand.

Christian started bringing up how important the Loews Don CeSar Hotel has been to him. It is where he started his career, where we met and worked, which brought us together for the long haul. Reminiscing about the start of our relationship, I cut him off saying, “I know I was a part of it.” Clearly I didn’t realize what was happening.

As we approached the beautiful “Pink Palace,” I noticed that he put his hand in his pocket. What seemed to be a split second later, he was down on one knee asking me if I would spend the rest of my life with him. My answer was clearly, “YES!” but I didn’t know what to do, so I kneeled down in the sand with him and I cried. I turned around and he had a bottle of champagne arranged with two chairs for us to watch the sunset.

Katie & Andy’s Gold and Ivory Traditional Downtown Tampa Wedding at the Floridan Palace Hotel | Northside Florist

Tampa Wedding Florist Northside Florist | Floridan Palace Hotel Wedding

Tampa Bay couple Katie and Andy knew that the city that held a majority of their memories would be the perfect place to host their downtown Tampa wedding.

“We both grew up in Tampa, and after years of living outside of Tampa, we decided to move back to our hometown to start our life as a married couple,” the bride shared. “We knew we wanted to be married at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, so it was an easy choice to pick a downtown location for our reception venue as well.”

The couple’s elegant, traditional Tampa wedding ceremony, focused on family and religion, which was an important element to both the bride and groom. Katie and Andy had special scriptures, hymns and prayers selected for their ceremony, and even had her uncle, a Methodist minister, give the final blessing.

After their downtown Tampa nuptials, guests were escorted to the ornate wedding reception venue, The Floridan Palace Hotel, just steps away from Sacred Heart Church. The venue combined their Florida lifestyle with a classic “old Tampa” theme.

To complement their elegant venue, Tampa wedding florist Northside Florist created tall centerpieces, featuring ivory hydrangeas and dusty white roses with greenery accents.

“I looked for a florist who had great taste with fair prices. We hired Northside Florist because Kathy came highly recommended from family friends,” Katie shared. “Kathy was attentive to our requests and my vision, and she delivered classic, elegant and beautiful arrangements. She also provided beautiful draping for the entrance to the ballroom and spent extra time to make it work.”

The Proposal:
In December, after my law school finals, Andy took me to Sand Key Beach for a relaxing weekend to celebrate the end of the semester. He had made reservations at the Columbia Restaurant on Sand Key and before dinner, we went down to the beach to watch the sunset. It was there that he proposed down by the water!

Little did I know that he had a dear family friend photographing the entire event. Both of our families were waiting for us at the restaurant to celebrate; he had been planning the proposal for four months.

Ivory and Gold Wedding Reception Table Decor

How would you describe your theme?
Classic elegance with a nod to the beach, a twist of old Tampa and homage to our home state of Florida. I am a traditional girl, and I wanted to be able to look back on our wedding and not regret any style choices.

Because Andy proposed to me on Sand Key Beach in Clearwater, Florida, we wanted to bring in an aspect of the beach without clashing with the aesthetic of classic elegance and without bringing in the beach too literally.

Both the historic Floridan Palace Hotel and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Tampa were already decorated with our color palette and also brought in the “old Tampa” feel that we wanted. We also wanted to tastefully showcase our love for our home state of Florida, which we brought in by including it on our paper products and our cookie favor.

What were your colors?
I think the most beautiful color combination in the world is ivory, gold and deep sea mist, and we tried to stay true to that palette throughout.

The Proposal:
It was the day after Christmas, and we had made plans to meet up with his out-of-town college friends at Pete’s parents’ beach condo in Redington Shores, FL. When we got to the beach, Pete told me his friends would not be joining us and that he brought me out here to ask for my hand in marriage. Ultimately, we made it a family affair when Pete had both families out for an intimate post proposal after party. It was one of the most emotional and happiest days of my life.

Laura and Jon’s Elegant Ivory, Gold and Blush Downtown Tampa Wedding at The Floridan Palace Hotel

Downtown Tampa Wedding Northside Florist | Floridan Palace Hotel Wedding

Laura and Jon knew that the iconic Sacred Heart Catholic Church would be the perfect place for their downtown Tampa wedding ceremony.

“Utilizing the church that I grew up attending was one of the most important aspects of the day. My grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles and cousins have all had their wedding ceremonies at Sacred Heart, and I felt it was an important tradition that I wanted to carry on,” the bride shared.

After saying “I Do” at their downtown Tampa nuptials, guests made their way to The Floridan Palace Hotel, located a few blocks away from the ceremony location.

The couple’s elegant and romantic wedding reception was adorned with soft colors of ivory, gold and blush. Searching for opulent details and with a distinct vision in mind, the couple hired Tampa wedding florist Northside Florist on the recommendation from their wedding venue.

MORE: BLUSH PINK WEDDINGS

To complement the large ballroom and royal feeling of the Laura and Jon’s historic wedding venue, downtown Tampa wedding florist Northside Florist created lavish tall centerpieces on gold bases with ivory hydrangeas and an assortment of blush and light pink roses with greenery to pull the entire look together.

“I wanted a specific gold candelabra centerpiece that looks amazing in the high ceilings of the Floridan ballroom. I interviewed numerous florists who had never worked with those candelabras before or would have to order them. I knew I wanted someone who wouldn’t be using my wedding as a ‘trial run’ to make those centerpieces, and Northside Florist had done them for numerous receptions at the Floridan,” Laura explained. “Meeting with the owner, Kathy Gilbert, was like meeting my flower fairy godmother! Her service was amazing from start to finish. The centerpieces, bouquets and other flowers were absolutely perfect and lasted quite a while even after the wedding weekend.”

Adding a stunning effect to the cake table, ivory hydrangeas and blush roses were arranged under a round glass table to create a unique accent to the already gorgeous wedding cake design.
